3 WSSU police officers promoted

WSSU Chancellor Elwood L. Robinson pins a new badge on Ulrick McDougald.

Winston-Salem State University Police and Public Safety celebrated the promotion of three officers at a ceremony on Monday, April 17.

Henry Gray has been promoted to captain, and Ulrick McDougald and Jermey Neal have been promoted to corporal. 

Family members, staff and administrators attended the ceremony.

Student, faculty member honored with King ‘Building the Dream’ Award

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr., two members of the Ramily were recognized during a joint program of Winston-Salem State University and Wake Forest University on the official federal holiday honoring the civil rights icon. Student Nia James and faculty member Maestra D’Walla Simmons-Burke were the 2025 honorees.
