Office of Community Standards and Civility
The Office of Community Standards & Civility plays a vital role in upholding the values that define the Ram experience. Grounded in the principles of ethical behavior, personal accountability, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to community, the office works proactively to promote a culture of integrity and civility across campus.
By educating students about their rights and responsibilities, the office empowers them to make informed decisions that reflect the high standards of character expected at WSSU. It administers the university's student conduct process in a fair, transparent, and developmental manner, ensuring that disciplinary procedures serve as learning opportunities that encourage growth and self-reflection.
In collaboration with faculty, staff, and student leaders, the Office of Community Standards & Civility creates programs, resources, and initiatives that foster inclusivity, conflict resolution, and restorative practices. These efforts contribute to a safe and respectful campus climate where every student can thrive personally, socially, and academically.
Ultimately, the office supports the University's broader educational mission by preparing students to be responsible citizens and ethical leaders both within the university community and in the wider world.
Dear Ramily,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 academic year at Winston-Salem State University! I am Madison Massey a graduating senior, Justice Studies Major from Winston Salem , NC. Whether you’re a first-year student beginning this new chapter or a returning Ram ready to continue your journey, I’m truly excited to welcome you back to our vibrant campus.
As your Student Government Association Attorney General, it is both an honor and a responsibility I hold close to serve and represent you. I want you to know this year is about you — your growth, your goals, and your experience. Our university offers countless resources to support you mentally, physically, emotionally, and academically. I encourage you to lean into these resources — you don’t have to do it all on your own.
As a fellow student, I also understand how overwhelming college life can get at times — and that’s why I want you to know I am here for you. If you ever have a question, concern, or simply need someone to talk to, my door is always open. Please don’t hesitate to reach out — not just as your Attorney General, but as a peer who genuinely cares.
Let’s work together to create a safe, respectful, and empowering campus environment. Let’s hold each other accountable, uplift one another, and move with purpose in everything we do. I encourage all of us to take pride in who we are as Rams — not just in our academics, but in the way we carry ourselves and support our community.
Also, make sure to take a moment to review the Student Handbook, Students' Code of Conduct and the Living On Campus Guide — it’s there to guide you in understanding your rights, responsibilities, and what it means to be a part of the WSSU community.
