New director of alumni engagement named at WSSU

Isaac Moore, WSSU's new director of alumni engagement, comes to WSSU with a background in higher-education and corporate management.

Isaac Moore has joined Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) as the director of alumni engagement for the Division of Advancement.

“After a national search, we are pleased to welcome Isaac to WSSU,” said Michelle Cook, vice chancellor of advancement at WSSU. “As a seasoned professional and an HBCU alumnus, he brings a unique prospective and has a proven track record of developing programming that enhances the alumni engagement experience at the collegiate level.”

Moore brings a background in both higher-education and corporate management. Most recently, he was senior assistant director of alumni relations for Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. At Bucknell, he directed the Bucknell Professional Network, which creates engagement opportunities for Bucknell’s 52,000 alumni worldwide. He also led a team that designed and executed industry-related regional events that engaged alumni in-person and online.

Prior to Bucknell, Moore served in management roles at Susquehanna University, Harrisburg University and Target Corp.

Moore, who started at WSSU on Aug. 1, received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and his Master of Public Administration from The Pennsylvania State University.

Moore will provide vision and leadership to motivate and engage more than 25,000 WSSU alumni.

“It's an honor to be selected as WSSU’s new director of alumni engagement,” Moore said. “I’m looking forward to collaborating with alumni, students, staff and faculty. I’m also interested in building on the success of the alumni program and connecting with the Ram family across multiple industries and generations in new ways. It’s important that we continue to be forward thinking and entrepreneurial in our approach to engaging our constituents. Listening, building trust and focusing on the needs of alumni far and wide is one of the keys to institutional success. The legacy of Simon Green Atkins will not be forgotten.”

Moore, a native of Pittsburgh, is an active volunteer for The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Habitat for Humanity International, Penn State and Cheyney University. He also is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.

Moore replaces Gregory Hairston, who retired in December after 20 years of service in University Advancement.
