Miss WSSU competing for spot in Ebony magazine

Miss Winston-Salem State University Jordan Reaves. 

Miss Winston-Salem State University is one of 75 HBCU campus queens competing for a spot in Ebony’s 2017-18 HBCU Campus Queens Contest.

Jordan Reaves, the 78th Miss WSSU, is a senior business administration major from Southern Pines. Online voting opened on Dec. 4 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 20. 

The top 10 queens based on the online voting will be featured in the pages of Ebony magazine.

Reaves says her platform is “It’s Time to Get L.I.T.,” which stands for Leaving a Legacy, Inspiring Our Future Generations and Transcending Dreams into a Reality.

Student, faculty member honored with King ‘Building the Dream’ Award

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr., two members of the Ramily were recognized during a joint program of Winston-Salem State University and Wake Forest University on the official federal holiday honoring the civil rights icon. Student Nia James and faculty member Maestra D’Walla Simmons-Burke were the 2025 honorees.
