WSSU announces new Board of Trustees members for 2025
Winston-Salem State University has announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Trustees, along with the reappointment of two current members.
Joining the board are Todd Collins and Victor Holloway. Bill Miller and Carlos Pauling have been reappointed to continue their service. Each of their terms begin July 1 and runs through June 30, 2029
“Our Board of Trustees is composed of visionary and dedicated leaders who are deeply committed to the transformative power of higher education,” said Chancellor Bonita Brown. “It is both an honor and a joy to welcome our newest trustees and to celebrate the continued service of returning members. Their collective wisdom and unwavering support will be instrumental as we advance the mission of WSSU and chart an ambitious course for the future.”
The following community leaders will serve as trustees:
Todd Collins
Todd Collins is the founder and CEO of Red Hill Ventures, an investment firm headquartered in Charlotte with operations in North Carolina, Texas, Maryland and Washington, DC. The firm operates a commercial real estate portfolio consisting of multi-family, office, retail, industrial and master planned communities. Additionally, Red Hill Ventures owns several operating companies.
Collins’ community engagement experience includes involvement with Atrium Health Foundation (board member); Charlotte Executive Leadership Counsel (member); TowneBank (board member); Good Fellows (board member); Jack and Jill of America, Charlotte Chapter (chair, Father's Auxiliary); and Young President's Organization (regional member engagement chair, state education chair, Big 3 Family Meeting Committee).
He earned a Master of Business Administration from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in marketing from Morehouse College. He and his wife, Janelle, reside in Charlotte with their three children.
Victor Holloway
Victor Holloway is the chief executive officer and founder of Callon Capital in Charlotte. Callon Capital is a full-service concierge-style company focused on assisting business owners that span various industries and asset classes by deploying business capital consulting solutions.
Formerly, Holloway was the chief financial officer and co-founder of LenDRgroup Consulting. He also served as the founding partner of the Medicus Group.
Holloway’s community engagement experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Urban League of Central Carolinas; the Mecklenburg County Boy Scouts; Florence Crittenton Services; YMCA Camp Thunderbird; and Charlotte Christian School.
He earned a Master of Business Administration in finance from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Science in international business and Bachelor of Arts in marketing from the University of Richmond in Virginia. He and his wife, Carmen, reside in Charlotte with their two daughters.
Bill Miller
Miller joined Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) as a consultant after 15 years at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), where he retired in 2020. He is a currently a member of C&W’s procurement team, supporting supplier development and business development for C&W’s Global Occupier Services business, where more than $800,000,000 is generated in business for diverse firms annually.
Miller previously held the position of chief operations officer of supply chain management at JLL. He managed platform operations for supply chain management and procurement including technology solutions, risk and compliance, policies and procedures, supplier diversity, and a total spend exceeding $6 billion.
Before becoming JLL’s chief operating officer, Miller was the national director of supply chain management, overseeing $53 million in spending. Prior to this role, he was CEO and president of Crown Solutions, LLC, a firm offering treasury services for Fortune 500 companies and banks.
Miller has been reappointed to serve as a trustee at WSSU and is currently chairman of the board. Previously, he was a member of the WSSU Foundation Board. He is a lifetime member of the WSSU Alumni Association, the International Business Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Pfeiffer University at Charlotte, a Six Sigma Green Belt certification, and is a certified purchasing manager. He is a former member of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce and National Minority Supplier Diversity Council. He is married to Lorraine Miller, and they have three adult daughters. Both he and Lorraine are alumni of WSSU.
Carlos Pauling
Carlos Pauling is an executive director in Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Partner Practice Group, where he provides oversight, strategic support and guidance to partner recruiters and practice specialists. With over 20 years’ experience in the business, legal and financial services industry, he brings innovative and resourceful ideas to recruiting and the firm’s approach to lateral partner hiring.
His professional experience also includes having served as managing director at C&CP Enterprises; vice president and assistant professor of law at The Infilaw Consortium; executive vice president and general counsel at Petros Private Capital LLC; and vice president and assistant general counsel at Wachovia Corporation.
Pauling’s community engagement experience includes service as: a trustee on the WSSU Board of Trustees (since 2023); a trustee at Davidson Day School; member of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Board of Visitors; and member of the Mecklenburg County Bar Association Board of Directors.
He earned a Juris Doctorate from Duke University and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
