Diggs Gallery director named Barton College graduation speaker

Barton College, a private liberal arts institute in Wilson, has announced that Endia Beal, assistant professor of art and director of the Diggs Gallery at Winston-Salem State University, will be the featured speaker at the 115th annual commencement exercises, scheduled for Saturday, May 13.

“We are delighted to welcome Endia Beal as this year’s commencement speaker,” said Dr. Douglas N. Searcy, president of Barton College. “Her extensive, significant work has influenced new attitudes and approaches in the art world and beyond. The authenticity of her engagement with audiences, through her creative photography and videography, will help graduates consider their place in the world and make meaning of their experience."

The Diggs Gallery offers one of the largest exhibition spaces dedicated to the arts of Africa and the African Diaspora in North Carolina.
