Statement from Chancellor Robinson on DACA

Dear Ram Family,

Yesterday, the U.S. Attorney General announced that the federal government is ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. We understand that this announcement may cause concern and uncertainty among some members of our campus community.

DACA students are a valuable part of the Ram Family. Their contributions and talents enrich the culture of not only of Winston-Salem State University but also the region. Their commitment to achieving their goals is inspirational to us all.

We hope that Congress will recognize the meaningful contributions of DACA recipients and allow them to continue to pursue their dreams. In the meantime, some members of the campus community may feel unsettled or stressed in this time of uncertainty. Below are some resources that are available to provide support:

Diversity and inclusion have been hallmarks of this institution since its founding 125 years ago. We value and appreciate the contributions of all our students. We are here for you, we value you, and we embrace you. Do not hesitate to reach out if you need support.
