Physical therapy students win second place for falls prevention video
Five Winston-Salem State University Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students won second place for their falls prevention video in the American Physical Therapy Association of North Carolina (APTA NC) Special Interest Group’s 3rd Annual Falls Prevention Challenge.
The DPT students created a three-minute falls prevention video with messages to encourage older adults to stay active, participate in fall prevention programs, and to contact lawmakers about proposed cuts to Medicare, which could limit services like physical therapy and increase fall risks.
WSSU was one of four North Carolina schools to enter the challenge. All of the submitted falls prevention videos are posted on the APTA NC Special Interest Group Facebook page.
WSSU winning team includes Aja Grant’19, Alyesha Grady, Liz Staudt, Jonny Lind, and Courtney Crews, who are all in their second year of the program.
