Spring Semester Student Re-Entry Guidance
We hope you all had a restful and rejuvenating winter break and are ready to launch into a new semester. Your health and safety continue to be our top priority. To prepare for a safe return, please read the following information carefully. Please visit the Ram Re-Connect website to get complete details about COVID-19 protocols for the spring semester.
PROOF OF COVID-19 TESTING REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS
All residential students (vaccinated and unvaccinated) will be required to have a negative COVID-19 test 72 hours before moving into the residence halls for the spring 2022 term. Rapid antigen and PCR test results are acceptable. Test results must be uploaded to the Medicat Patient Portal before arrival to campus for a timely move-in process.
Testing Options
- Students may get tested in their hometown 72 hours before returning to campus. Results may be uploaded to the Medicat portal or verified upon arrival on campus.
- Students may test on-campus at the Anderson Center before returning to their residence hall. Please allow 90 minutes for results.
Even if you have uploaded your results, please be prepared to show a copy of your test results (hard or digital copy) as a backup.
Students who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the 90 days before the move-in date will NOT need to participate in testing but will need to upload their test results to the Medicat portal.
Positive Test Results at Re-Entry
If you test positive during on-campus re-entry testing, you will be given the option to return home or report to our on-campus isolation space. WSSU has adopted the updated CDC guidance for isolation and quarantine; however, isolation length and clearance to exit will be determined by our medical staff.
WHERE TO GO FIRST
New First-Time Freshman and Transfer Students
New first-time freshman and transfer students will need to report to the Anderson Center first to complete Covid-19 verification.
Returning Students
Returning students will report directly to your residence hall if they have been tested before returning to campus. You will need to have your negative test results uploaded to the Medicat portal or with you (hard or digital copy) upon arrival. Test results will be verified before receiving access to your room assignment. If you HAVE NOT been tested, you will need to report to the Anderson Center first.
GRADUATE STUDENT RE-ENTRY
Graduate students will NOT be required to have a COVID-19 test before returning to campus. However, we strongly encourage you to get tested. You can make an appointment at the Student Health and Wellness Center at any time or get tested at a local clinic near you.
TOWN HALL
We will host a virtual Student Re-Entry Town Hall on January 7 at 6 p.m. This will be an opportunity for students, parents, and guardians to hear re-entry procedures and ask questions of key university personnel. Please keep an eye on your university email for the link to join the town hall.
