WSSU announces new Board of Visitors members
Winston-Salem State University is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Board of Visitors members. The board is an advisory group whose members occupy positions of significant leadership and influence who will share ideas, initiatives and resources for the benefit and advancement of Winston-Salem State University.
Members of the new Board of Visitors include:
- Chair, Denise Hartsfield, retired Forsyth County district court judge;
- Vice Chair, Jonathan Jackson, WSSU Class of 2012, senior business process consultant, Optimum IT Healthcare;
- Secretary, Telena Weeks, Class of 2004, occupational therapist, CenterWell Home Health;
- Kyle Brown, Class of 2016, diversity program manager and early talent recruiter, Red Ventures;
- Retired Col. Edna Cummings, vice president, Windsor Group;
- Amanda Eure, Class of 2010, lead test engineer, Operational Test and Evaluation Force;
- Karen S. Hicks, Class of 1984, controller, Hubbard Radio DC, LLC;
- Nikita Lindsay, Class of 1996, Atrium Health-Rock Hill Pediatric Associates;
- Charles Love, Class of 1966, dean and professor emeritus, University of South Carolina Upstate;
- Harvey Manley, Class of 2019, operations excellence site manager, Convatec;
- Jennifer Martin, chief prosecutor, Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office;
- Wilma K. Means, Class of 1975, retired educator, Cabarrus/Mecklenburg County Schools;
- Patsey O’Neal Squire, retired Title 1 executive director, Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools; and
- Gwendolyn Wilson, Class of 1983, principal, Durham Public Schools.
The WSSU Board of Trustees approved the slate of members at its regular meeting in June. Members have completed orientation and will begin work this spring. The board will host its first meeting in April 2024 on the WSSU campus.
“I look forward to working collaboratively with the entire Board of Visitors to advance our university’s mission, foster innovation, and ensure a vibrant and transformative educational environment for all learners consistent with our ‘WSSU 2030 Unleash the Genius’ strategic plan,” said WSSU interim Chancellor Dr. Anthony Graham.
About the Board of Visitors: The Board of Visitors is an advisory and service organization of the university whose goal is to advise the Board of Trustees and the Chancellor on matters related to maintaining and enhancing the quality and excellence of Winston-Salem State University and assist the university in achieving its mission. They will work closely with university leadership to provide strategic counsel, foster collaboration, and contribute to the continued growth and success of WSSU.
