Winston-Salem State University welcomed more than 500 new alumni on Dec. 15 during its Fall 2023 Commencement held at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. They entered to learn and now the freshly minted WSSU graduates will depart to serve.

It’s been three years since Winston-Salem State University announced its largest donation in the school’s history from a single donor. Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott donated $30 million to WSSU in December 2020.

The board is an advisory group whose members occupy positions of significant leadership and influence who will share ideas, initiatives and resources for the benefit and advancement of Winston-Salem State University.
WSSU Powerhouse Cheerleaders to perform with Carolina Panthers’ Top Cats Sunday at game

The Winston-Salem State University Powerhouse of Red and White Cheerleaders will perform with the Carolina Panthers’ TopCats during this Sunday’s matchup when the Panthers take on the Atlanta Falcons. Game time is at 1 p.m. at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

While at WSSU, Ananye Fontaine was involved in the National Council of Negro Women, first as a mentee then as a mentor. She was a resident advisor for two academic school years; and was inducted into Phi Eta Sigma Honors society.

As a non-traditional student (adult learner), Tiffani Cash did not have the pleasure of getting involved in many of the traditional college student activities. University of North Carolina System President Peter Hans and Winston-Salem State University Board of Trustees Chair Kathleen Kelly today announced the formation of a 13-member committee to launch the search for the next chancellor of the university. Kelly will serve as the chair of the committee.

The Delta Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. presents a $1,300 check to Samaritan Ministries for its annual Penny Campaign. The funds were raised during the fraternity's 27th Annual Homeless Awareness Week held on the campus of Winston-Salem State University.
