Cancer Awareness Programs
Rams LLC (Learn. Live. Cure)
Program Description
Rams LLC is a cancer equity and prevention initiative housed under the School of Health Sciences at Winston-Salem State University. Our mission is to reduce cancer disparities through proactive education, culturally responsive outreach, and early detection strategies that empower students, employees, and surrounding communities. We provide year-round health education and screening support in collaboration with academic, clinical, and community partners.
Each year, Rams LLC hosts two signature events to anchor our efforts:
- All Cancer Awareness Month (March): A month-long initiative focused on education and prevention for a range of cancers, including colorectal, cervical, prostate, and lung. Programming includes expert panels, wellness screenings, survivor stories, and student-led advocacy campaigns.
- Breast Cancer Awareness Week (October): A week-long series of events including workshops on early detection, grief and coping, body image, and medication side effects—culminating in a 5K Walk/Run to unite the campus and broader community in honor, memory, and hope.
Through these and other initiatives, Rams LLC upholds Winston-Salem State University’s commitment to excellence, equity, and community impact—serving as a blueprint for HBCUs nationwide.
