Project Updates: K.R. Williams Auditorium and Hauser Hall Renovations

The K.R. Williams Auditorium and Hauser Hall Renovations project is currently in progress, bringing significant renovations to K.R. Williams Auditorium and the Hauser Building. This three-year initiative will modernize these facilities, enhancing campus spaces for performance, learning, and community engagement.

As construction continues, the project will involve:

 UPDATE March 28, 2025: Cromartie Street Partial Closure March 31 to January 2026

WSSU has embarked on an ambitious construction project. This project will involve temporary closures of certain buildings and areas, changes to traffic patterns and pedestrian routes, adjustments to parking availability and campus logistics.

  • These impacts will evolve over time, so please be on the lookout for updates.
  • Please see below for important notifications regarding campus pedestrian and vehicular navigation and safety.
  • Please also pay attention to safety and directional signage that will be posted around impacted areas of campus.

Pedestrian Safety: Partial Closure of Cromartie March 31 to January 2026

The safety of our students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors is our number one priority.
  • Beginning March 31, 2025a section of Cromartie Street on the WSSU campus will be closed to vehicular traffic. Please see the map here.
  • This closure will create a pedestrian-only area to ensure the safety of all people on the WSSU campus.
  • WSSU has also created a new pedestrian-only sidewalk that goes behind Lot G.

 Accessing the Campus Via Cromartie Street

  • Vehicles will be able to access Cromartie Street via Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, but cannot travel past the first intersection beyond the guardhouse.
  • All traffic approaching campus from MLK to Cromartie will be directed to turn left towards Lot E and the bridge to Lot LSW.
  • Visitors may park in Lot E.  Overflow parking is in Lot LSW by continuing across the bridge.

 Accessing Campus Via Reynolds Park Road

  • Vehicles may enter the campus via Reynolds Park Road. Cromartie will remain open from Reynolds Park Road, through our campus to Lot G.
  • Motorists are advised to utilize Lot H to turn around as they approach the closure from the Reynolds Park Road direction.
  • If you park in Lot G you must enter campus from Reynolds Park Road.
  • To access the EV chargers, enter at Reynolds Park Road.
