- Must be on a path to pursuing higher education.
Preference is given to students planning to or currently attending WSSU. This includes those who've taken time away from their continuing education, those who never began a post-high school program, and those who are already working toward a degree and promising career.

Dr. Julian Mitton is a medical doctor based in San Francisco. He wants to help the next generation of healthcare students in the United States, and would like to give back through the “Dr Julian Mitton Scholarship for Healthcare Students”. This scholarship is available for students in the United States who are currently enrolled in a university or high school students that have plans to attend a university. The scholarship is meant to help a deserving student with scholarship funding who wishes to become a healthcare professional.

The Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation is a charity dedicated to the support of women in nine southeastern states.
In accordance with guidelines prescribed by the founder, the grantee institutions award scholarships on the basis of need to Christian women who reside in one of the specified southern states. (AL, FL GA, LA, MS. NC, SC, TN and VA)

Every two years, HBCU Living Legends, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, celebrates major accomplishments of alumni of North Carolina’s HBCU’s who have made significant impacts on their communities – local, state, national, and international. At the same time, we also award scholarships to deserving students currently enrolled in these institutions.

North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association Criminal Justice Scholarship Application
The Reynolda Rotary Clarence "Big House" Gaines Memorial Scholarship was established in special recognition of Reynolda Rotarian Clarence "Big House" Gaines to help students from Cook Elementary School attend Winston-Salem State University. Students who attended Cook Elementary School during the 2003-2004 school year and/or later and who meet the qualifications may be considered for this scholarship.
Gaines was a pillar of the Winston-Salem Community, serving in many professional and civic organizations, including the Reynolda Rotary Club where he was a charter member.
These awards provide mentoring and financial assistance to alum of Cook Elementary School for educational-related expenses to attend Forsyth Tech or WSSU.
Two Awards Available
- up to $2,000 per year of study up to two years at Forsyth Tech Comm College
- up to $5000 per year of study up to four years at Winston-Salem State University
Eligibility
- Must have attended Cook Elementary School for at least years
- Must have a high school diploma (or equivalent)
- Must be current student of or planning to attend WSSU or Forsyth Tech
- Must have the GPA minimum required for admission into WSSU or Forsyth Tech
Since 1987, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) has provided scholarships to qualified students attending one of our nation's public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). TMCF scholarships are awarded annually to students meeting the TMCF eligibility criteria. The Sallie Mae Fund's Completing the Dream Scholarship Program
Helping students access and complete higher education
In partnership with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, The Sallie Mae Fund’s Completing the Dream Scholarship Program helps increase access and completion of higher education among students of color and those from underserved communities.
Minority students and those from marginalized communities face long standing inequities when it comes to accessing and completing college.
The Sallie Mae Fund's Completing the Dream Scholarship Program will award: 800 Scholarships, in 3 Years, for a total of $1.95 million.
- 75 $10,000 scholarships to high school seniors to access higher education
- 780 scholarships of up to $2,500 to help students complete post-secondary education
- 30 $10,000 scholarships to help graduate students access and complete their degrees
Who is eligible?
The Completing the Dream Scholarships are available to minority students and those from marginalized or underserved communities, including Black, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, low-income, first generation, and students from rural communities, among others. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents and Pell Grant-eligible.

The scholarship will be awarded to the applicant whose critical thinking skills and personal dedication put them a step ahead of the rest. We invite students from all areas of study, across the United States, to submit scholarship video essays between 30 and 60 seconds for the firm’s consideration.
