Walk/Run Routes
Looking for a place to walk or run?
UREC Indoor Track, .10 mile loop (10 laps = 1 mile). This three lane track provides beautiful views of campus as you look out windows from the third floor. With basketball below, lap timers and specialty fitness areas, this is sure to become a favorite when the weather brings you indoors.
WSSU Wellness Trail, 1.1 mile loop. Beginning at Carolina Hall, this hilly route provides a scenic view of campus.
WSSU Outdoor Track, .25 mile loop (4 laps = 1 mile). The outdoor track located by the child development center surrounds the outdoor recreation field.
Salem Lake Trail and Greenway is a 7 mile mostly dirt path around Salem Lake. The trail connects to the Salem Creek Greenway which runs by campus. Bikes are allowed.
Salem Creek Greenway runs along Salem Creek from the Marketplace Mall, past WSSU to Salem Lake Park. The 5.2 mile trail is primarily paved. You can access the greenway through the Anderson Center parking lot.
The Long Branch Trail is a 1.6 mile paved trail funning from MLK Jr. Dr. through Rams Drive to the Salem Creek Greenway. Long Branch Trail runs along Research Parkway on the south end and then passes near Bailey Park and Innovation Quarter as it runs through downtown.
The City of Winston-Salem Recreation and Parks offers over 25 miles of greenways for walking, running and cycling.
