SECC employee giving campaign underway

Winston-Salem State University employees are once again being asked to give back through the annual State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC).

WSSU’s SECC campaign, which runs Oct. 31-Dec. 8, supports more than 900 charities and organizations that directly impact the community, the region and the world.
Last year, WSSU employees more than doubled the previous year’s goal, with 17 percent participation, and gave more than $25,000. The campaign was recognized with the highest honor from the state.

This year, WSSU’s SECC goal is to increase employee participation to 18 percent, which was last year’s UNC System average.

“We’re looking to continue the momentum this year and make a powerful and positive impact on our communities and beyond,” says Leslie Winbush, WSSU Staff Senate president and chair of the campaign. “Every pledge has the power to help us reach our goal. It’s important that you give regardless of the dollar amount.”

The campaign kicked off with a fall festival on Nov. 1, with prizes, games and information tables from community-service organizations.

Employees who complete their pledge forms will be entered for weekly prizes worth $50-100.

Since 1985, more than $103 million has been donated to local, national, and global charities through the State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC).

For more information on the campaign, employees can contact their building captain or Leslie Winbush at winbushlo@wssu.edu or 336-750-2138.
