Letter from Chancellor Robinson: We Stand Against Hate
Dear Rams,
The unfortunate increase in violent incidents against our Asian, Asian American, and Asian Pacific Islander citizens has been alarming. The level of cruelty demonstrated is heartbreaking and should give each of us pause to reflect upon who we are as a community.
The most recent senseless violence in Atlanta that resulted in loss of lives is incomprehensible. Today, we mourn with our nation, our University, and especially with our Asian community of faculty, staff, and students. We stand with you in solidarity against hate and the condemnation of these heinous acts. You are valued, and your contributions to our great University are not taken lightly. You are vital sources of creativity and strength for Winston-Salem State University.
As we press our way forward, it is now time for all of us to affirm through voice and deed our commitment to standing against hate in all forms. We will continue to work daily to foster a campus community where everyone feels welcome, respected, and safe. We will not tolerate hate in any form on our campus.
For anyone that may be struggling with the unprecedented events of late, know that we are here for you. Our Counseling Services team and Employee Assistance Program are on standby and ready to lend support. As a Ramily, we will make it through this. Together we stand Ram Strong.
Sincerely,
Elwood L. Robinson, Ph.D.
