Winston-Salem State University and Novant Health to sponsor a cancer awareness event

March is Cancer Awareness Month. Winston-Salem State University and Novant Health have teamed up to sponsor a Cancer Awareness Event on the WSSU campus.

The two-day event takes place on March 23 and 24 and is open to faculty, staff, students, and the wider community.  

On Thursday, March 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. there will be a keynote speech by Gregory J. Dennis, M.D., and a panel discussion. The panel will include caregivers, cancer survivors, and family members of cancer patients and survivors. Please join us for this event in 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Donald J. Reaves Center Room 100. On Friday, March 24 Novant and the WSSU Mobile Unit will be set up on the practice field to provide free health screenings. Please register for the health screenings by March 13 bit.ly/3FxNrqv

Paint n’ Chat                                          noon to 1:30 p.m.

Cancer Awareness Walk/Run             2-3 p.m.

Celebration of Life                                3 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by WSSU Alum, DJ Jerome (Energizer).

WSSU to host author, actress Tabitha Brown in next Slater Speaker Series – ‘cause that’s our business’

Winston-Salem State University’s Slater Speaker Series, presented in partnership with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, will host author and actress Tabitha Brown. The event will be held at 7 p.m. on April 17 at the Benton Convention Center in downtown Winston-Salem. It is free to attend; however, tickets are required.
