All camps listed below will be held on the Winston-Salem State University campus. Most are residential but a few are day camps for participants who live in the area. If the camp is open to the public for registration, the name of the camp will be linked to the camp’s registration site.

The Winston-Salem State University Powerhouse of Red & White is back with their annual
Powerhouse University! The 2024 Powerhouse University is an Overnight Senior Team Camp for high
school and Senior All-Star teams being held July 18-20, on the campus of WSSU. This camp
encompasses everything the WSSU Powerhouse of Red and White Cheerleading Program stands
for! There will be a strong focus on being a well-rounded cheerleader. This includes skills in; cheers,
chants, motions, jumps, tumbling, and stunting!
Programs can choose a curriculum in Traditional OR Stomp & Shake material, or a mixture of BOTH.
Material is personalized just for YOUR squad. You pick the focus of your team's private instruction
time!
Outside of the Unity Cheer, NO TEAM WILL LEARN THE SAME MATERIAL AT OUR CAMP! Your squad
will have their own personal instructors for 3 days!
Participating teams must have at least 5 members to attend. No individual registrations will be
accepted. Overnight and commuter pricing is available.

The Winston-Salem State University Powerhouse of Red & White Cheerleading Program will host one of the biggest cheerleading camps in the Piedmont Triad!
On June 24th - 28th, the Annual Cheer Explosion will be held at the C.E. Gaines Center on the campus
of Winston-Salem State University. It is a unique COMMUTER camp for individuals ages 5-17. It is
designed for those looking to learn more about or improve proper cheerleading technique. The
Powerhouse Red & White Cheerleaders will help develop beginner, intermediate and advanced
cheerleaders. Your child will get five days of instruction! Males and females are welcome!
The camp will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a 4:00 p.m. pickup. Drop off opens at 7:30 a.m.; pick up ends by
5:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided for participants. The price of the camp is $175 per child.
Registration/Payment deadline is June 4th. All payments must be received in advance. We will not be
accepting registrations the day of the camp. Price includes five days of instruction, talent showcase, camp
t-shirt, daily lunch, and an array of prizes.
The highlight of the camp will be a talent showcase at the C.E. Gaines Center on the campus of Winston-Salem State University at 1:00 p.m., Friday afternoon.

This day camp is for athletes who are interested in taking their skills to the next level. Campers will receive instruction from WSSU coaches and players through specialized drills. All skills will be covered and campers will be divided by age, grade, skill and experience for competitive game play.

Four-week summer enrichment program for our high school students that will take place from June 16-
July 19th. We are anticipating 40 students (9-12th grade) for our program and will be providing academic
instruction during the week. On Fridays, we will have activities for the students to participate in off
campus. Meals are provided for the overnight portion of program (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner). Day
camp portion of the program will be held Monday-Friday, breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Boys Camp is an Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Sixth District program that yearly provides for boys ages 8–14 the opportunity to spend one week at summer camp. The camp focus is on enhancing a camper’s self-esteem, confidence, and ability to interact with others by providing its participants a wide variety experiences through its team building activities and adventures. Some of the projects/programs at Boys Camp include the following:
• Financial planning for kids
• Conflict resolution
• Reading
• Arts and crafts
• Water safety (swimming)
• Archery
• Team sports
• Golf
• Computer literacy
The goal is for the boys to leave having had fun, but more importantly, to leave feeling good about
themselves, their accomplishments, and the friends they made during the week.
