Since 1974, the Department of Liberal Studies has met the needs of students who are interested in a broad liberal educational experience grounded in the theories and methods of interdisciplinary study. Our programs equip students to explore, critically and creatively, new areas of knowledge that span disciplinary boundaries. In addition to our signature Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree which provides students with the opportunity to design a plan of study based on personal and professional goals, we offer a Bachelor of Arts degree in African and African American Studies. We also offer academic minors in Philosophy and Religious Studies. Our faculty and staff are well equipped to assist all students and to provide mentoring and advising for an enlightening and successful educational journey.
