There are two ways to gain admission into the Simon Green Atkins Scholars Society. As a Freshman recipient of an institutional merit-based scholarship, or as a Continuing or Transfer student who applies to the program and meets the eligibility criteria.
Current and Transfer Students
Current and Transfer students may apply for admission to the Society using the S. G. Atkins Scholars Society Application. Students who apply must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA and at least 15 earned credit hours at WSSU or prior institution (in the case of transfer students).
Continuance in the Simon Green Atkins Scholars Society
All students must maintain the required GPA pursuant to their respective scholarship to remain in the Society. Any student falling below the minimum GPA will have one academic term to restore good standing. Additionally, all students must complete 15 hours of community service each semester and attend all Society meetings and other activities, unless an excused absence is obtained from program staff.
