RAMS Career Closet

ATTENTION:

Monday from 12-7 p.m.
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday from 12-4 p.m.
Friday from 12-3 p.m.

Hours may vary during breaks.

The Student Resource Center will be open the week of Thanksgiving as follows:
Monday, November 25, 2024 - 12-7 p.m.
Tuesday, November 26, 2024 - 12-4 p.m.
Wednesday, November 27, 2024 - 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Thursday, November 28, 20224 and Friday, November 29, 2024 - CLOSED

UPDATE:
The last day of operation for the Student Resource Center for Fall 2024 is Monday, December 2, 2024.
If a student needs access to the Student Resource Center from December 2 until December 23, 2024, please email wssuhelpinghands@wssu.edu to coordinate a time during regular business hours to visit the SRC.  

NOTE: WSSU is closed from December 24, 2024 through January 2, 2025 at which time the University will reopen.  Access to the SRC is not available during this time.

The SRC will reopen for operation on Thursday, January 23, 2024.
If a student needs access to the Student Resource Center from January 2, 2025 until January 23, 2025, please email wssuhelpinghands@wssu.edu.

The Career Closet provides students with business and casual clothes for interviews, career fairs, formal events, or any career-related functions, both on and off campus. The Career Closet is available to all Winston-Salem State University students seeking to expand their professional wardrobe. These items, donated by faculty, staff, alumni, families, community members or businesses, enable students to make the best possible impression and feel confident during a professional meeting.

Students Seeking Professional Attire

Students are encouraged to stop by the The Allegacy Federal Credit Union Student Resource Center at Winston-Salem State University to look through the many options at a pace that best suits them in a zero pressure, judgment free zone. Need help finding items? Staff are available to assist. Items are available on a first-come, first-served basis and specific items may not be available. Common clothing closet items include:

  • Belts
  • Blazers
  • Blouses
  • Dresses
  • Dress Pants
  • Jewelry
  • Handbags
  • Dress Shirts
  • Professional Footwear
  • Slacks
  • Suits
  • Neck Ties

Donations

Appropriate items for donation include business suits, blazers, dress shirts, blouses, professional slacks, skirts, and ties. Items need to be appropriate for career fairs, interviews, and professional work environments. All donation items must be cleaned appropriately. Items with any damages and items without sizes clearly labeled will not be accepted.  Damaged or dirty clothing items and items without sizes clearly labeled will not be accepted.

Donations are tax deductible, and a receipt will be provided upon request. The donor is responsible for determining the value of their donation.

Financial Support

While the Career Closet relies primarily on donations of appropriate clothing, financial support enables the Career Development Services department to purchase items that are in greatest demand. Monetary donations will be managed through CDS Career Closet Foundation.

To donate, please visit WSSU Donate Now page, click on Donate Now, go to Department-Operations  tab and select “CDS Career Closet”.
