If you are looking to hire Federal Work-Study Students for the academic year, please read the information below. Should you need additional assistance, Career Development Services will host 30 minute FWS Supervisor Orientation Sessions on Friday, August 12th from 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm. These sessions will take place in the Student Success Center at Hill Hall, Room 215.
Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federally funded program that provides part-time job opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need; allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the recipient's course of study. Eligibility is determined by the completion of the FAFSA, enrollment status, and Satisfactory Academic Progress. ONLY students qualified by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid are eligible to participate in the program.
Please note the hiring procedure below. Students are paid by the hour. On-campus students will earn $9 per hour and off campus students will earn $10 per hour. FWS students are paid bi-weekly. Student employees may not work more than 20 hours a week. The amount of FWS earned can't exceed the total award amount. When assigning work hours, students and their employer should consider the students award amount, class schedule, and academic progress.
