Academic Experience

UREC compliments many academic programs offered at WSSU and serves as a laboratory for unlimited educational endeavors. Through volunteering, field experience, internships, work-study, and campus jobs students receive practical hands-on learning. Each semester UREC staff hosts workshops and activities which teach new skills and provide participants with new experiences.

UREC hosts students who volunteer or receive academic credit for their work with the department. Opportunities include work in group fitness, facility management, sport management, officiating, coaching, marketing, event promotion, health education and more. Students may gain knowledge and skills in customer service, risk management, supervision, management, leadership, planning and communication. Each experience is customized to meet the academic needs of the student.
