GRANTS
One of the many benefits of being a recognized student organization is their ability to apply for Grant funding via the Student Government Student Senate. There are three (3) types of funding opportunities for student organizations eligible to participate in the Student Government Student Senate grant and funding processes. The funding methods include the following:
EVENT GRANTS
Student Organizations can apply for these grants to support the programming needs of registered group’s on-campus and within 10 miles of the main WSSU campus. The maximum award is $800 per student organization per academic year for your on-campus/off-campus event. The activity must not be primarily religious or political in nature and must be open to all students.
Student Organizations are eligible to receive funds to support up to 50% of the fundable costs of the special project/event. There is no limit to the number of on or off-campus Events/programs the group may organize for the campus community. A hearing before the Senate of the Student Government Association is required. Funds must be requested and approved according to the timeline approved by the SGA Student Senate. TRAVEL GRANT
Student Organizations can apply for this grant to travel to conferences, trainings, competitions, and other events not organized by the student organization. The maximum award is $800 per student organization per academic year. Student Organizations are eligible to receive funds to support travel that is not primarily religious or political in nature. A hearing before the Senate of the Student Government Association is required. Funds must be requested and approved according to the timeline approved by the SGA Student Senate. Please submit your request 30 days in advance. Please note that you are required to fundraise at least 50% of the amount you are requesting. You will be required to provide of proof of said fundraising activities.
OPERATIONAL GRANT
Student Organizations can apply for this grant to fund resources necessary for the day-to-day operational needs of the group and its recruitment of new members. The maximum award for this grant is $150 per student organization per academic year. No hearing is required. Please submit your request 30 days in advance.
Maximum amount per academic school year is $1750.00
