Updated: WSSU closely watching storm
Campus safety officials continue to closely monitor Hurricane Irma and are preparing response measures should the university be impacted. Safety measures are in place to protect the campus community from the storm’s impact.
Current forecast models suggest the impact to campus will be less significant than previously thought. The forecast currently suggests campus will experience wind gusts of 35-40 mph beginning on Sunday and heavy rain on Monday evening into Tuesday morning. Based on this forecast, there is no plan to change operations/schedule for next week unless there is an imminent threat to the safety of students, staff, and faculty on campus.
We will provide updates to the campus community as needed, and ensure safety measures are executed to protect the campus community from the storm’s impact. If a weather condition warrants your immediate attention or action, you will receive a RamAlert.
In the coming days, we encourage you to:

- Ensure you’re registered for RamALERTs.
- Use the hurricane safety tips from the National Weather Service.
- Heed any orders issued by campus, local, state and/or federal officials
