Important to Remember …
Academic Integrity & AI: AI without proper disclosure or in unauthorized ways violates WSSU's academic integrity policies. All Students and faculty must:
- Check course syllabi for specific AI policies
- Disclose AI use when required
- Cite AI tools properly
- Understand what constitutes unauthorized assistance
Data Privacy & Security Never enter confidential, sensitive, or FERPA-protected information into AI tools. This includes:
- Student records or grades
- Personal identifying information
- Unpublished research data
- Proprietary institutional information
How to Properly Cite AI Tools
If you use Generative AI for coursework, you must clearly document your use.
Include a brief statement that:
- Explains how you used AI (for example: choosing a topic, brainstorming ideas, creating an outline, revising text, or generating images or media)
- Lists the AI tool(s) you used
- Describes how you changed, edited, or built on the AI-generated content
- When possible, includes a link to the AI conversation. If a link is not available, you may include screenshots in an appendix.
