AI @ WSSU

Mission Statement

Winston-Salem State University is committed to responsible and equitable AI adoption that supports student success, enhances teaching and learning, and advances research excellence.

What is AI?

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to computer systems designed to mimic human intelligence such as learning, problem-solving, and decision-making. Generative AI (GenAI) is a type of AI that can create new content such as text, images, code, or music by identifying patterns in vast amounts of training data.

AI competencies and literacies are quickly emerging as necessary workforce skills. At WSSU, we are working to ensure all students, faculty, and staff have the knowledge and tools to use AI responsibly and effectively.

AI at WSSU is the university’s official starting point for guidance, resources, and updates related to the use of Artificial Intelligence across campus. This site provides students, faculty, and staff with clear information about responsible AI use at WSSU and will continue to grow as policies, resources, and initiatives evolve.
