Early College


If you have earned an associate’s degree through the one of the North Carolina Early College and Cooperative Innovative High School Partnerships, you have the opportunity to choose your admission student type. You may choose either New First Time Freshman or Transfer as your student type. 


Below are the requirements for each student type as well as the advantages associated with the student type.

Minimum Course Requirements (MCR)
  • Four units of college prep English
  • Three units of science (one must be a lab science)
  • Two units of social studies (one must be United States or American History)
  • Two units of the same foreign language (ex.: Spanish I & II)
  • Four units of mathematics (required are Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and a fourth unit higher than Algebra II)

Minimum Admissions Requirements (MAR)
  • Minimum 2.50 weighted GPA
  • Minimum SAT of 880 (new rSAT) or 800 (previous SAT) or ACT of 17

  • Submit official high school transcript
  • Submit final, official high school transcript
  • Submit official high school transcript

  • Submit final, official college transcript
MCR and MAR Exception Non-Exempt Students who are at least 21 years old or have an earned Associate of Arts or Science are exempt from both MCR and MAR
